Felix’s Famous Cookies
The secret ingredient is always love. Felix Castillo learned that from his Grandma Toni, a woman with flour in her hair and a big heart on her sleeve. When she died, Felix honored her by baking her ‘pan de polvo’ cookies for his elementary school’s fair and donated the proceeds to charity.
The cookies proceeded to be a hit, as people kept asking for more. Where there’s a whisk there’s a way, and so together with his mom, he turned a hobby into a business. Now 11, he’s the youngest hispanic CEO in Illinois. Toni helped everybody, so Felix gives away his profits to many causes. Feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, suicide prevention. He picks a new charity every month. But his sweet determination is always the same.
